UNE's Political Science Department hosts career day

BIDDEFORD - The University of New England Department of Political Science will host a Political Science Career Day on Monday, April 30, 2007 from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. in the St. Francis Room of the Ketchum Library on the University Campus in Biddeford.

The event is open to the public.

Featured Speakers

Michael Wygant - U.S. Department of State
A retired foreign service officer, Wygant will discuss the qualifications for becoming a foreign service officer and the process of applying for a job with the State Department.

Jeremy Caron - State of Maine, Department of Administrative and Financial Services
A 2004 graduate of UNE's political science program, Caron will explain how he became involved in state government and how best to prepare for a career in government.

Meagan Hall and Karl Tarbox - Peace Corps
Hall, who served in the Philippines and is currently a social worker, and Tarbox, who served in Uzbekistan, will share their experiences with students and explain the process of applying for the Peace Corps.

Thaddeus West - York County District Attorneys office
West, a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Stetson College of Law, has been with the York County District Attorneys office for the last 5 years. He is currently assigned to the Superior Court in Alfred and is teaching a political science course, Law and American Society at UNE.  West will discuss how to apply to law school and what to expect while attending.

Ali Ahmida, Brian Duff and Julie Mueller - UNE Department of Political Science
Faculty from the Department of Political Science will discuss attending graduate school for either a master's degree or Ph.D. in political science.
