Holocaust survivor to discuss life in the camps April 16th

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The University of New England's Department of History is sponsoring a presentation by Holocaust survivor Mix Slabotzky titled "Memory of the Camps: Surviving Auschwitz, Dachau, and Birkenau" on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in Marcil Hall 323 on the University Campus in Biddeford from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Mix Slabotzky, 77, who lives in Portland, Maine, is an ethnic Polish Jew. In his youth, he was arrested by the Nazis and moved around between Auschwitz, Dachau, Birkenau, and two other smaller concentration camps.

He will speak and show photographs about his experiences in the Nazi concentration camps, and will then open the floor up for questions from the audience. Light refreshments will be served.
