Sumithra Urs, Ph.D.

Sumithra Urs is a Scientist at Maine Medical Center Research Institute, Scarborough, ME, a position she has held since Oct 2008. Dr. Urs earned her Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology from the University of Mysore, India in 2000. She did her Post-doctoral fellowship from University of Tennessee, Knoxville and MMCRI. Her research focus is in the field of obesity and adipocyte biology. Recent work focuses on sequestering adipose tissue hyperplasia, the main cause of obesity by controlling adipocyte differentiation by targeting regulatory molecules.
