A female student uses an instrument to fill test tubesOur B.S. in Biochemistry offers a balanced curriculum that ensures you gain a substantial foundation in the other chemical sub-disciplines, including analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physical chemistry. The major is a good choice if you are interested in studying the applications of chemistry in biological systems.

Depending upon which courses you select, you may leave the program prepared to enter a graduate or professional program in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or a number of other disciplines that rely on chemistry as a fundamental science. You may also enter the workforce immediately after completing the program, seeking a position in the rapidly growing biotechnology industry.

Honors Program

We offer qualified students the option of participating in our Honors Program and graduating with Honors. This includes significant research, scholarship, or creative activity under the direction of a faculty member. You should consult with your major advisor or department chair for specific criteria and requirements.
