The University of New England's Department of Marine Sciences educates marine science students to become the next generation of coastal leaders as informed citizens, stewards, scientists, business leaders and policymakers. Through our innovative, interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs that emphasize hands-on, experiential learning, as well as participatory and team science, our students will acquire the knowledge, leadership and skills they need to be of outstanding value to universities, coastal businesses, civil society, and governments throughout the world. In addition to managing our academic programs, the department works closely with the Center for Excellence in Marine Sciences (CEMS), our incubator for forward-looking research and partnership programs.
