Library Services for UNE Faculty

UNE Faculty members have full employee access to all UNE Library Services as well as to specialized assistance in support of teaching and scholarship. Each academic department has been assigned a Library Liaison to assist you and ensure that the library is providing the resources and services you need.

Services to Support Teaching

Library Instruction

UNE Library Services Research and Teaching Librarians are specialists who can host your class in the library’s instruction lab or visit your classroom to give your students a general introduction to library research and information literacy skills, or more specific instruction to meet the needs of your program, course or assignment.

Course Reserves

We make every attempt to place required reading materials on course reserve whenever the library owns a copy. The library also welcomes instructor copies in order to provide students with access to as many of their required materials as possible. See our Course Reserve Guidelines for details.

If the library has access to an article, chapter or book title in electronic format, you can provide students a direct link within your Blackboard course or course syllabus. Blackboard also inlcudes a plagiarism checker called SafeAssign. A video tutorial is available on using SafeAssign in Blackboard courses.

Subject Guides

The library has published Subject Guides for each UNE program and major to guide students to resources relevant to their research.

Course Guides

Research and Teaching Librarians can compile an online course guide for your students. A Course Guide is a list of resources tailored to a specific course or assignment. Contact your Library Liaison to request a Course Guide.

Affordable Course Materials

Cost of textbooks is a major concern for students. Your library liaison can help you find course materials that are available in the libraries’ collections, which can be purchased by the library in electronic formats so that the whole class can have access, or with a search for high-quality open educational resources.

Special Collections

Connect your students to unique primary sources for use in the classroom or in the library.

Writing the Paper & Style Manuals

Use these resources to help your students find and evaluate scholarly sources, avoid plagiarism, and format citations correctly.

Access RefWorks Citation Management software with your email address. Use Refworks to collect references from online databases, websites and other sources, easily insert citations into papers, and automatically format reference lists.

UNE faculty, staff and students are expected to comply with UNE’s Copyright Policy. Use our Fair Use Checklist to help determine if you have a good argument for fair use of copyrighted materials.

Scholarly Communication

UNE’s Scholarly Communication Librarian can assist you with issues of author rights, fair use and copyright, and open access.

DUNE: DigitalUNE is UNE’s centralized online repository and platform for open access publication of scholarly and creative works by UNE faculty, staff, and students. Contribute articles, presentations, theses, books, journals, conference proceedings, creative activities media and other output from your academic activity at UNE to be archived and hosted at no cost.
