The work of David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, was recently featured in several publications.

In Quartz, a digital business news publication, and the Berkley Blog, a blog produced by the University of California, Berkley, Smith’s work was cited in articles about the dehumanization of migrants.

Smith was also featured in the National Review in an article about a George Washington University professor comparing a New York Times columnist to an insect.

Smith is the author of the award-winning book Less Than Human: Why We Demean, Enslave, and Exterminate Others. The book explores the ways in which some people deopict and treat groups of "others" as subhuman.
