Jessica Tyre graduated from Keene State College in 2003 with a BS, Safety Studies and a Minor in Business Management. She held an internship her senior year with the Safety Officer of Cheshire County where she assisted in running safety and health programs at the county courthouse, county jail, a nursing home facility, and an office building. After college, Jessica began her career in the manufacturing industry taking the job of Safety Coordinator at precious metals manufacturing facility in Attleboro, MA. She has also held positions for United Rentals in Hampton, NH and Sekisui Voltek in Lawrence, MA as a Safety Coordinator. Jessica joined the University of New England in 2012 as an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist on a half-time basis. She has experience with hazardous waste management, writing safety policies and procedures, conducting job hazard and PPE analyses, chemical management and storage, life safety issues, environmental reporting, accident investigation, and safety training. She has also chaired safety committees and started the publication “EHS Lab Chatter” at UNE which focuses on communicating laboratory safety issues on campus to faculty, staff, and students. In 2016, Jessica accepted a second half-time position as a Claims Management Specialist for Risk Management and still holds both positions concurrently.
