Rebecca Carr joined the College of Dental Medicine in July of 2014. A native of Scarborough, Maine, she has experience in both higher education and international health. Prior to completing her Master’s of Public Health, Rebecca taught HIV prevention to community groups in rural Tanzania. As part of her Master’s program, she co-designed a national nutrition surveillance system for the Ministry of Health in Belize. Her professional accomplishments include Leading Community Health Initiatives: Dentistry, Medicine, and Public Health as Partners, a pioneering course at Boston University that promotes interprofessional collaboration while teaching skills in community health and leadership development. She also served as Associate Registrar at Boston University School of Public Health and, most recently, as an Education Coordinator at Maine Medical Center. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys traveling with her husband, trying the many excellent restaurants of Portland, and walking along the Back Cove with their rescue pup, Autumn.
