The Dallaire Drug Information Center (DIC) serves as a student-training site and provides professional services to area practitioners. The DIC is located on the second floor of the School of Pharmacy building on UNE's Portland Campus. The Drug Information Center was made possible through a generous donation from Brian Dallaire, Pharm.D., former trustee of the University of New England.

To educate future pharmacists in the practice of drug information along with serving the surrounding academic and health care communities by providing unbiased, objective, evidence-based information to ensure optimal care is given. This is accomplished by using peer-reviewed journals and the most up-to-date databases and tertiary resources.

The DIC is staffed by a specially trained pharmacist and serves as a rotation site for fourth-year Pharm.D. candidates. Drug information services are available to all Maine health care professionals, and UNE faculty and staff. We have established service agreements with many health care providers in the state, including Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital.

All requests (drug interactions, therapeutic uses, recently approved drugs, etc.) and responses are fully documented and logged into a computerized database from which information may be retrieved.
