"I chose UNE because it is a small school in a great location with excellent facilities. I was accepted to several other schools, but they all felt too big or impersonal for me.
"I was originally enrolled as a Medical Biology major and intended to become an epidemiologist, but I realized that my real passion was in history. I looked into it and decided that teaching would be a better career for me than medicine, and switched my major before attending Orientation.
"UNE is the perfect fit for me. It is easy to walk to anywhere on campus in a short amount of time, and it's easy to get to downtown Biddeford or Portland to have some fun. There are a ton of resources available to UNE students in the library and through the professors, as well as many opportunities to advance your academic career - just don't be afraid to ask!
"I think the History Department is incredible. It's full of friendly, helpful people who are truly passionate about their subjects. They are all incredibly intelligent. I like that it is a smaller department so I can have plenty of one-on-one time with my professors and get to know the people within my major."
