Summary of Plan Updates

Below please find a summary of the most recent information within sections of the UNE Onward Plan that have been updated since the initial version, as of 9/14/2020.

Landing Page: definition of hybrid instruction altered to say that we are providing a “full curriculum” of fall courses in which “each course” is taught using a combination of face-to-face and online instruction.

Entire Plan: updated for verb tense to reflect current status of events. 9/14/20

II.D.1. Face coverings must cover nose and mouth. Added link to CDC guidelines for most effective use of masks.

II.D.1. Neck gaiters, bandanas, scarves, and masks with exhalation vents are not approved face coverings. References to “face coverings” changed to “face masks.”

II.D.4. Added information about surveillance testing, clarified that there are two types of tests (viral and antibody) and UNE requires viral. Added link to CDC info on the difference between the two types of tests, added link to a site that helps find testing facilities near you, added link to an at-home test option, cautioned that if turn-around time in your area exceeds 72 hours, you should plan ahead and get the test early and then quarantine until you get the results.

II.G.3. Language added to the testing section to explain the expanded testing protocols that UNE adopted on Sept. 16, 2020.

II.G.4. The word “antigen” was changed to “antibody” when describing the other type of test that we do NOT accept. (We accept only viral test).

II.G.6. Strike mention of a mobile application.

II.G.7. Students awaiting test results and/or who have a positive COVID-19 test “who choose to” return home and do not have high-risk individuals in their household “may do so” (rather than “should”).

II.G.8. Added info to Plan for Positive Cases and Those Awaiting Test Results: students waiting results should stay in their residence hall rooms. In some cases, when a student is in a double room on a traditional floor (not a suite), the student may be temporarily relocated during the waiting period. Added info about the suites in East Hall (quarantine residence hall): they have kitchenettes and single bedrooms.
