Student Advisory Team (IPSAT)

The UNE Interprofessional Student Advisory Team (IPSAT) is a Graduate and Professional Student Association (GAPSA) recognized student group. IPSAT was formed in 2011 and is committed to the following mission:

  • Educating students about interprofessional collaborative patient-centered practice, as well as promoting interprofessional education among the various graduate health professions on the UNE Portland and Biddeford campuses
  • Facilitating collaboration among health care students by organizing social and educational opportunities designed to promote the active participation of all health care disciplines and professions in working together towards the common goal of improving patient access to health care and enhancing patient care, safety and satisfaction.

Although IPSAT meets on the Portland Campus, membership to the student group is open to all health professions students on the Portland Campus and all UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine students. Officer positions in IPSAT include: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and a GAPSA representative. Officers are elected by the IPSAT general body every April for terms to be held during the following academic year.

The IPSAT group meets every two weeks during the academic year. During these meetings, we plan student led interprofessional projects under the guidance of various faculty mentors. Our yearly hallmark event is holding an interprofessional case competition modeled after the University of Minnesota’s CLARION competition.
