Private Writing, Public Form: from journal to book
The decision to make a book is a turning point. This two day workshop will explore both private and public writing, with a specific focus on the arc between inner and outer expression of form.
We will spend the afternoon of the first day at the Maine Women Writers Collection exploring different forms of books, garnering inspiration, and engaging in writing and contemplation. Day two will offer time for making books. We will make single and multiple signature books that can be used or replicated for your own book production—whether for creating journals for private writing or producing books for distribution.
Participants are invited to bring writing and imagery (art making supplies, collage materials and/or additional papers as desired) to create mock-ups of books or one of a kind books.
Please bring a cutting mat, x-acto knife, bone folder, ruler, glue stick, pencil and scissors. Bring a bag lunch on Sunday.
