Lisa Hogan receives the National Nursing Patient Safety Award at the 1st Annual National Nursing Patient Safety Conference

On April 14, 2011, the 1st Annual National Nursing Patient Safety conference and awards program was held at Georgetown University, Washington, DC. The awards celebration was held to honor and recognize the unique contribution of nurses in improving outcomes through the promotion of best practices in patient safety. Awards were given for nurse-led projects in seven patient safety categories.

Lisa J. Hogan CRNA, DNP, Assistant Program Director, Assistant Clinical Professor in the School of Nurse Anesthesia was the recipient of the National Nursing Patient Safety Award in the category of Learning/Education/ Training, for her study titled: “The Effects of Education on Noise Levels in the Operating Room.”  The study was aimed at identifying, measuring and reducing noise levels in the operating room during critical phases of anesthesia, while exploring the effectiveness of education and noise reduction strategies.
