Sandra Fritsch featured in Portland Press Herald article on Child Psychiatry Access Project

The August 18th issue of the Portland Press Herald contained an article that featured Sandra Fritsch, M.D., (MMEL ‘12) a recent graduate of the Master of Science in Medial Education Leadership.

The article discusses southern Maine’s Child Psychiatry Access Project, of which Fritsch serves as director. An innovative program that facilitates southern Maine’s primary care doctors’ access to child psychiatrists, the project has attracted a growing number of pediatricians as members, many of whom utilize the service in order to determine what resources are available for their patients or to make referrals to the program’s outpatient services.

Southern Maine’s Child Psychiatry Access project currently serves an area including approximately 38,000 children.  Fritsch estimates that expanding the program to the rest of Maine’s 300,000 children would cost $800,000.
