University of New England announces winners of Humanism in Aging Leadership and Humanism in Aging Action Awards

The University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM), Department of Geriatric Medicine has announced the winners of its Humanism in Aging Leadership Award and Humanism in Aging Action Award.

Dr. Thomas Cavalieri, professor of medicine and Dean of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's School of Osteopathic Medicine, won the Humanism in Aging Leadership Award, while UNECOM students Hannah Reimen, Heather Hassett, and Cole Southworth received first, second and third places, respectively, in the Humanism in Aging Action contest.

As the winner of the leadership award, Cavalieri made a presentation to UNECOM students.  Following his presentation, which was titled "Clinical Decision Making in Geriatrics:  Optimizing Care of the Elderly," attendees were invited to submit an essay that would address the ways in which they would apply what they learned from Cavalieri in their future practices as physicans.

A UNECOM committee selected the top three submissions, and these were sent to Cavalieri for the final ranking.
