David Livingstone Smith publishes article in 'Philosophia'

David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., philosophy professor in the Department of History and Philosophy, authored an article,"Self-deception: a teleofunctional approach," which has been published on-line by the journal Philosophia.  It will eventually appear in the print edition, as well.

The article presents an entirely new model of self-deception, drawing on work done by biologists on deception by non-human organisms as well as on inhibitory physiological processes (for example, the negative feedback mechanisms regulating the production of thyroid hormones).
