David Livingstone Smith’s discusses secrets and lies on WHYY in Philadelphia

David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, was a guest on Voices in the Family, hosted by Dr. Dan Gottlieb on NPR affiliate WHYY in Philadelphia on July 1, 2013.

Smith - along with Charles Ford, a professor of psychiatry at University of Alabama School of Medicine - discussed secrets and lies in the context of the family and work, as well as in relation to the hunt for Edward Snowden, the American who leaked details about national security surveillance programs plays out as a story about secrets and lies.

Smith is the author of Why We Lie:  The Evolutionary Roots of Deception and the Unconscious Mind and Less Than Human: Why We Demean, Enslave, and Exterminate Others (winner of the 2012 Anisfield-Wolf award for non-fiction). Listen to the radio program.
