On December 15, 2014, David Livingstone Smith’s book Why We Lie: The Evolutionary Roots of Deception and the Unconscious Mind was featured on "Como Cada Mañana," a Spanish language television program that airs in Baja California.
The Spanish translation, ¿Por Qué Mentimos?: Las Raices del Engaño y el Inconsciente, was selected by the program as the "Book of the Week."
The program’s host discussed Smith’s belief that deception is universal among human beings and named the many reasons cited by Smith in the book as to why individuals and political entities lie.
