George P. Allen presents two abstracts at antimicrobial conference in California

George P. Allen, associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the College of Pharmacy, recently presented two abstracts at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy/International Congress of Chemotherapy and Infection (ICAAC/ICC) in San Diego, California.

Allen’s presentations were entitled, “In Vitro Evaluation of Resistance Selection by Various Antimicrobials in Escherichia Coli,” and “Evaluation of In Vitro Resistance Selection in Shigella Flexneri by Azithromycin, Ceftriaxone, and Ciprofloxacin.”

This research included five Doctor of Pharmacy students from the Class of 2016: Katie Eastman, Katharine Freudenberger, Jane Lee, Adrian Tsui and Thien Vo.

ICAAC/ICC is a premiere meeting devoted to antimicrobial resistance, new antimicrobial development, antimicrobial stewardship and the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Thousands of clinical microbiologists, physicians, pharmacists, other health professionals and researchers attend this annual meeting.
