Josh Pahigian receives commendation from Massachusetts House of Representatives
Josh Pahigian, M.F.A., adjunct faculty member in the UNE Center for Global Humanities and longtime adjunct writing instructor in the English Department, received a commendation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives on April 18, 2015.
Signed by Massachusetts Speaker of the House Robert A. DeLeo and State Representative Carolyn Dykema, the declaration commends Pahigian for his "commitment to preserving the history of America’s favorite pastime" through his popular baseball books.
In presenting the commendation to Pahigian at a book-signing and reading in her home district of Holliston, Massachusetts, Dykema noted that Pahigian was born and grew up in central Massachusetts and earned degrees from Massachusetts’ College of the Holy Cross and Emerson College.
The event was held at Casey’s Pub, not far from the Mudville field that some believe was the inspiration for Ernest L. Thayer to write his famous baseball poem "Casey at the Bat." The Casey-related sites in Holliston account for one of the chapters in Pahigian’s new book 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out, 2nd Edition.
