Josh Pahigian’s new book featured in ‘The Houston Chronicle’ and ‘Hartford Courant’

Josh Pahigian, M.F.A., fellow in the UNE Center for Global Humanities and longtime adjunct writing instructor in the English Department, received a review of his latest book 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out, 2nd Edition from The Houston Chronicle and was cited as an expert in baseball culture by an article in the Hartford Courant.

The Houston Chronicle review discusses some of the interesting baseball places Pahigian profiles in the book, including: pop-culture attractions like the Field of Dreams movie site in Iowa and the North Carolina stadium where much of Bull Durham was filmed; the neighborhoods where baseball legends Ted Williams and Jackie Robinson grew up; and historic major league stadiums like Fenway Park and Wrigley Field.

Reviewer Conrad Bibens writes, “101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out might be just your ticket. Josh Pahigian remembers what Bull Durham's Crash Davis said: ‘Let’s have some fun out here! This game’s fun, OK?’”

Pahigian was also referenced in a Hartford Courant article about beyond-the-beach recreational offerings Massachusetts’ vacation hotspot Cape Cod offers visitors during the summer. Discussing the Cape Cod Baseball League, the article states, “The Cape League – the premiere amateur baseball league in the U.S. since 1885 – draws fans to its free games throughout the season. In his book, 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out, baseball travel writer Josh Pahigian ranks the league the sixth best baseball attraction in North America."
