Anouar Majid was interviewed by France 24, France’s version of CNN, about the condition of the Arab and Muslim world and his views on heresy and dissent. Majid explained that Islam, like other monotheistic religions, needs to be examined through the lenses of modern scholarship so as to make it relevant for modern times. The interview was recorded on September 9, 2016 in the studios of France 24 in Paris and broadcast the following week.
