Glenn W. Stevenson, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Psychology, was recently invited to participate on a Department of Defense, Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (DoD-CDMRP) Phase II human clinical trials grant review panel, which will convene in December, 2016, in Washington, D.C. The clinical trials program broadly supports rapid implementation of clinical trials (pharmacologic compounds, devices, emerging technologies) that have the potential for significant impact on disease and/or battlefield conditions.

The invitation follows Stevenson’s previous participation on a DoD-CDMRP grant review panel in July and August, 2016. The summer review panel consisted of scientists from around the country with expertise in pharmacology and neuroscience. Stevenson was tasked with providing scientific evaluation of grants that proposed to translate preclinical findings into products for clinical non-opioid pain management applications on the battlefield.

The CDMRP was founded in 1992 by Congress to provide competitive grant awards to U.S. scientists that would foster innovative approaches to biomedical research in response to the needs of the American public and military.
