Scott Steinberg, dean of University Admissions, wrote a column titled “9 tips to plan for your final year of high school,” which was published on July 31, 2016, by the Bangor Daily News.

In the article, Steinberg provided advice to rising senior high school students who are in the process of deciding where to apply to college. He encouraged students to continue visiting colleges during summer months, to begin narrowing their list of colleges, to be mindful of senior year course selection, to maintain extracurricular activities and to sign up for standardized tests (such as the SAT and/or ACT).

He also advised that they meet with their guidance counselors early and often, think about teachers to ask for written recommendations, consider topics for their college admissions essay and make a calendar to keep track of important admissions, financial aid and scholarship deadlines.
