UNE’s Ali Ahmida appears on one of Libya’s highest rated news programs

Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the University of New England Department of Political Science, appeared on Libya’s Channel’s program “Sijaal, Arguments” on October 23, 2016. 

The show focused on the crisis of post February 17, 2011 revolution in Libya after five years of upheavals. Ahmida argued that the crisis of transition led to a dead end and said it is time to look critically at the mistakes of the leaders who led the transition. He pointed specifically to the failure to collect arms, the reliance on outside powers to settle scores and the lack of a reconciliation and truth commission. The show was rebroadcasted five times and earned the highest ratings of the year.
