Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, vice president for Clinical Affairs and director for the Center for Excellence in Health Innovation, was quoted in a December 21 article in the Bangor Daily News about the results of a national survey that ranked Maine 20th in the overall well-being of its older residents.

According to the article, Maine’s rank is up from 33rd in last year’s survey, but the state falls short in the areas of seniors’ sense of purpose and their personal satisfaction in life.

Mills commented, “Seniors… want to live in a healthy state, since if more people in our communities are healthy, then [seniors] are more likely to be healthy.” She added that it is also important for Maine’s seniors to feel that their children are living in a healthy environment.
