UNE’s Brian Duff quoted in ‘Press Herald’ article on Sen. Collins’ reaction to Trump’s leak to Russians
Brian Duff, Ph.D., associate professor and chair in the Department of Political Science, was quoted in a May 16 article in the Portland Press Herald about Senators Collins’ and King’s recent criticisms of President Trump for sharing classified information with Russian officials.
Responding to Collins’ statement that she was “troubled” by Trump’s behavior and that the reports of the disclosures were “extremely serious,” Duff said that Collins’ comments are a “clear condemnation” of Trump’s conduct. He also commented that Collins’ reaction allows håer to thwart negative publicity that she received after expressing her support for Trump’s decision to fire former FBI director James Comey last week.
“This was a chance for her to clearly show that she is still keeping a critical eye on Trump. And I think these events profoundly disturb her in a way that the firing of the FBI director did not,” he shared.
