Born and raised in Texas I worked as a social services administrator in the War on Poverty and then as a journalist in Central Texas for many years before migrating to teaching. I spent 11 years as a traditional classroom teacher and then joined the charter school movement founding two charter schools while working on my graduate degrees at Texas State University, University of Phoenix and Capella University. My first adjunct teaching position was in 2009 at University of New England where I chaired the School Finance course. I joined Bridgepoint Education in 2010 and began working as dissertation chair in 2013. I also chair dissertation committees at Education Management Corp. and supervise thesis writers at University of the West Indies.
