Brian Duff interviewed on Maine Public Broadcasting Network

On June 10, 2014, Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN) interviewed Brian Duff, Ph.D., associate professor of political science, regarding a movement in Maine to put on next year’s ballot a proposal to reverse controversial Supreme Court decisions that have given corporations more political clout.

Duff described a continuum between spending small amounts to support a candidate, and the large amounts that new Supreme Court rulings make possible. He explained that until recently Congress has been clear that there is a point on the continuum where spending threatens the integrity of our democracy.  They have consistently set limits on spending at what they believe is that point.  But recently the Supreme Court has decided to overturn Congress's rules on this.
