‘WGME’ highlights outreach work of UNE’s Carol Marcotte

Carole Marcotte

Carol Marcotte, Ph.D., associate lecturer in the Department of Education, has been featured on WGME for her volunteer efforts benefiting hurricane victims in St. Martin. Marcotte has collected 500 pounds of school and personal supplies, which she will deliver to the island.

"I had a dream that I was walking in the Portland Jetport," Marcotte said. "I had two huge suitcases behind me filled, and they had signs on them that said support 'St. Martin schools.' I said, ‘I have to do this.’ "

Marcotte will fly to St. Martin after Thanksgiving, and has received special approval from American Airlines to exceed the weight limit for her luggage.

“I’ve got monetary donations, library books, Wiffle balls and footballs,” said Marcotte. “"I'm bringing over two hundred pounds."
