Ergonomics

Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time can cause stress on the body. MEMIC’s “Stretching and Moving For Your Health” flyer (PDF) provides 12 effective stretches and movements to consider making throughout the work day. These exercises are specifically designed to promote flexibility and alleviate tension, ensuring you stay productive and comfortable. Cigna’s Make Ergonomics Part of Your Work Day flyer (PDF) not only explains the importance of ergonomics, but also shares 10 keys actions you can take to prevent strains and stiffness during the work day.

If you would like to request an ergonomic evaluation have your supervisor email Cat Martins.

Guidance for Workplace Injuries

We all strive for the perfect safety record, but accidents do happen. Any employee injured during the course of employment is expected to report the incident to the Office of Safety and Security immediately, regardless of how minor or major the accident or injury may seem. Please submit a completed Accident Report to Safety and Security and Human Resources within 24 hours. Accident Reports are required for every incident, as they are evaluated to inform corrective actions. To report a work-related injury or illness, please log in to PeopleAdmin and complete the electronic Accident Report Form. Alternatively, you may download and complete a physical Accident Reporting Form (PDF).

Family Medical Leave Guidance

From time to time, illnesses and injuries to yourself or a family member occur that keep you away from work for extended periods of time, or maybe there is a new addition to your family. Family Medical Leave (federal FMLA and Maine FML) addresses many of the issues around these types of situations. The information below will help you understand continuous and intermittent leave situations, as well as the various circumstances, rights, and responsibilities of Family Medical Leave.
