Ergonomics

Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time can cause stress on the body. Our ergonomic workstation information (PDF) and workstation exercises (PDF) brochures can help you have a more comfortable day.

If you would like to request an ergonomic evaluation have your supervisor email Cat Martins.

Guidance for Workplace Injuries

We all strive for the perfect safety record, but accidents do happen.  Any employee injured in the course of employment is expected to report the accident to UNE Security immediately, not matter how minor or major the accident or injury is perceived to be.  Please return a completed Accident Report to Security and Human Resources within 24 hours. Accident Reports are expected in every incident because they are evaluated and create the basis for corrective actions to be taken.  To report a work-related injury or illness, please login to PeopleAdmin (une.peopleadmin.com/hr) and complete the electronic Accident Report Form. Alternatively, you may download and complete a physical Accident Reporting Form (PDF).

Illnesses and Injuries

Family Medical Leave Guidance

From time to time, illnesses and injuries to yourself or a family member occur that keep you away from work for extended periods of time, or maybe there is a new addition to your family. Family Medical Leave (federal FMLA and Maine FML) addresses many of the issues around these types of situations. The information below will help you understand continuous and intermittent leave situations, as well as the various circumstances, rights, and responsibilities of Family Medical Leave.

Work Accommodations Request Process

Employees needing to request accommodation for a permanent or temporary disability, or receive further information, should contact Cat Martins, benefits and leave Manager, in Human Resources. Cat can be reached at cmartins@une.edu or (207) 602-2394. The request process includes the employee completing an Employee Request Form and providing a completed Physician’s Form from their provider.

Privacy Rooms

UNE offers flexible accommodations to our nursing mothers. For more information, please contact Human Resources at 602-2394 or 221-4339.

Pumpspotting

We are thrilled to announce Pumpspotting, a new benefit available to the UNE community (students, employees, and their partners).

A comprehensive breastfeeding support program, Pumpspotting is a mobile app available for both Apple and Android devices. It provides direct access to:

  • Lactation consultants for both group discussion and 1:1 consultation
  • A large community of new parents, as well as a smaller community of working parents
  • Places to pump and nurse around the globe
  • Encouragements and customized content timed to your baby's due/birth date and your return-to-work date

Eligiblity

We are committed to helping growing families achieve their feeding goals, so whether breastfeeding, pumping, formula feeding, or mixing it up, we are providing you and your spouse/partner access to Pumpspotting.

How It Works

If you are interested in access to Pumpspotting, download the app using UNE’s unique access code: psWPk3dhYt. Your paid account will remain available so long as you are an active UNE member. You can learn more by visiting the Pumpspotting website.
