Osteopathic and Alternative Medicine Aspects of Sports Medicine: Lessons Learned from the Olympics

Dr. Lawrence Lavine  specializes in trauma and sports injuries with a focus on injury reversal therapy.  In 2003, Dr. Lavine was awarded the prestigious gold medal at the American Osteopathic Association’s Annual Conference for his treatment of Olympic speed skater Apolo Ohno.  In addition, Dr. Lavine was awarded the National Research Service Award.

Dr. Lavine is a fellow in the American Academy of Neurology, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Forensic Examiners, the American Electroencephalographic Society and England’s Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.  He is also a member of the American Academy of Osteopathy; the American Osteopathic Association; the American Osteopathic College of Preventive Medicine; the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene; the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States; the Section for Neuroepidemiology, American Academy of Neurology; the Section on Critical Care and Emergency Neurology, AAN; The Cranial Academy and the World Federation of Neurology.  Dr. Lavine is also a life member of the Society of US Army Flight Surgeons.

He graduated from Arizona State University (’70, B.S.), the University of Osteopathic Health Sciences (’74, D.O.), and Columbia University (’84, M.P.H.).  Dr. Lavine practices in Tacoma, Washington, where he specializes in trauma and sports injuries with a focus on injury reversal therapy.
