John  Winkin, one of the nation’s most accomplished college baseball coaches and head baseball coach at Husson College in Bangor, will focus on what he’s learned over a six-decade-long career of college coaching.

Coach Winkin, one of the most prominent figures in Maine baseball, was head coach at both Colby College (1954-1974) and the University of Maine (1975-1996) before taking the head coaching position at Husson.

Winkin has been a scout for the Boston Red Sox, a pre-game announcer for the New York Yankees and worked with Ted Williams at his baseball camp for 15 years. He also coached the 1983 U.S. National Baseball Team and has been a recipient of both the national and NCAA Division 1 Coach of the Year awards. Winkin is the author of four books, including The Baseball Coaching Bible, and is the founding editor of Sport Magazine.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Columbia University.

There will also be live audio/video feed to the CHP Lecture Hall, Parker Pavilion, at UNE’s Westbrook College Campus in Portland.
