Andrea earned her Bachelor of Arts (Biology) from The University of Texas at Austin in 2009. As an undergraduate, she studied under Drs. Jennifer Moon and Enamul Huq investigating the phototropic and gravitropic molecular signalling pathways in Arabidopsis thaliana. After graduation she worked as Lead Biochemist for the Stephen F. Martin Research Group studying the thermodynamic properties of protein-ligand interactions in a number of different protein systems including ALG-2/Alix and MUP-I in E. coli. While working for Dr. Martin, she also interned at The MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas as a part of the ALG-2 project. Andrea also worked in coordination with the Freshman Research Initiative at The University of Texas, instructing undergraduates in the study of Applied Biosciences and Laboratory Techniques.
Andrea joined the Dan Selvage Research Lab for Neuroendocrinology at the UNE College of Pharmacy in April 2013 where she is studying the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal pathway of the rat in response to intracranialventricular administration of alcohol.
