I have a broad background in veterinary medicine and have participated in several research projects in various public health-related fields, including but not limited to occupational exposures and infectious disease surveillance.  Given my veterinary background, I have directly witnessed and experienced the occupational hazards present in animal care work. My current work looks to apply a mixed methods approach to identifying and addressing barriers and facilitators to safety practices in small animal veterinary care work with the goal of reducing the incidence of injury among animal workers.

Current research

Occupational injury in the form of animal bites and scratches in the small animal veterinary care sector are prevalent. These injuries can be a source of illness and/or lead to chronic musculoskeletal issues. My current work aims to reduce the prevalence of occupational injury and illness in this occupational setting through a mixed methods approach.
