Kate Vellucci joined the University of New England in April 2026 to serve at the intersection of students, host partners, and the university, supporting the Sustainability Fellows Program hosted at the Center for North Atlantic Studies - UNE North. 

A rangeful and joyful service leader, Kate is celebrated as an organized and astute go-to builder who has worn many hats in both support and leadership roles in sustainability and community development work for over 15 years, with strengths especially in community food systems, inclusive stakeholder engagement, cross-sector partnership, and higher education online course coordination and student mentorship.

Kate earned her bachelors in Communications from the University of Maine, Orono and masters in Global Development Practice from Harvard Extension School where she still currently serves as a Teaching Assistant for online Global Development courses, attracting diverse students from across geographies, ideologies, and industries committed to the pursuit of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals impact in their spheres of influence.

Kate is thrilled to join UNE to work with students and partners to strengthen Maine’s commitment to innovation for healthy communities, healthy economies, and a healthy planet.
