Micaela Maynard joined the Center for Excellence in Public Health (CEPH) in November 2018 and serves as the Manager for the Maine CUP AHEC Scholars program.

The Care for the Underserved Pathways AHEC Scholars Program (AHEC CUP Scholars Program) is a two-year honors distinction program providing opportunities for health professions students to increase leadership skills, gain competencies in interprofessional education and team-based practice, understand and address health disparities and the social determinants of health in rural and underserved communities, and under­stand the role of practice transformation in addressing significant health and public health issues.

Before joining UNE, Micaela worked at DePaul University where she developed community-based service learning courses, civic engagement experiences, and strategic campus-community partnerships in collaboration with Chicago's rich and diverse neighborhoods.

Micaela currently serves on the Board of Directors for the New England Rural Health Association.
