Natalie Western serves as Director of the Student Counseling Center, supporting students across the Portland and Biddeford campuses. She earned her B.A. in Psychological Sciences from the University of Vermont and her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Colorado.

Prior to joining UNE, Natalie worked as a clinician at the University of Colorado where she developed a strong commitment to counseling in higher education settings. Her clinical approach is integrative and evidence based. Natalie is certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (C-DBT), yoga instruction, and mindfulness techniques, and has additional training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy.

Natalie approaches counseling with curiosity, compassion, and flexibility. She works collaboratively with students to support emotional well-being, resilience, and personal growth, tailoring treatment approaches to each student’s unique clinical needs and therapeutic goals.
