The Coalition for Creative Culture Committee aims to establish projects, discussions, events, and productions of an interdisciplinary nature, which integrate the arts, the humanities, and the social sciences with the health professions and science programs of UNE. This cross-university initiative brings together the creative cultures of the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, The Center for Excellence of Neuroscience, and the Westbrook College of Health Professions.

The Coalition is working in support of The Maine Reef, a Satellite of the Worldwide Hyperbolic Crochet Reef Project created by Christine and Margaret Wertheim of the Institute for Figuring in L.A.  The West Oxford Agricultural Society, presenters of the Fryeburg Fair purchased the intellectual property rights from the IFF to be involved in this unique worldwide  project. See more info at: http://themainereef.blogspot.com/) and  http://crochetcoralreef.org

UNE students, faculty, staff, and community members will be introduced to the project at various events and taught to crochet basic forms that will become part of The Maine
Reef  which will be installed together with other crochet parts at the Fiber Center at Fryeburg Fair in 2012.
