Healthcare Litigation; An Interprofessional Approach to Reducing Medical Errors.

A cross-disciplinary and interactive discussion of cases involving medical errors. Facilitators will focus on how lack of interprofessional communication and coordination, among other factors, lead to costly mistakes. Case studies will be used to enliven discussion and bring lived experience into a very serious and controversial topic in health care.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Appreciation for the need to understand the roles of other health professionals and improve patient-centered communication
  • Awareness of the costs, both human and financial, of medical errors
  • Demonstrate benefits of interprofessional communication and shared
