Bob Moses is a Harvard-trained educator who was one of the most influential black leaders of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. Moses initiated and organized voter registration drives, sit-ins, and Freedom Schools for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.

He currently runs the Algebra Project, which is a continued effort to improve math education in poor communities with the goal of sending more students to the workforce and revolutionizing the ideal of educational equity and lessening the achievement gap.  In this presentation, Bob will weave historical threads related to his experiences as an activist in the Civil Rights Movement with current struggles for obtaining quality public school education for all students.
