UNECOM Student Jamie Gellock speaks at the Sanford Rotary meeting

Jamie Gellock, a 2nd year osteopathic medical student, represented COM and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences (CEN) this past Thursday at the Sanford Rotary club meeting. Jamie described her almost six years of involvement with the University of New England and the communities of Southern Maine including her work as a hotline advocate for Caring Unlimited based in Sanford Maine. Ms. Gellock has volunteered for Caring Unlimited for over two years, helping women who are victims of domestic violence. She has also been involved with the Biddeford Free Clinic as a Sugar Buster, helping people manage their diabetes. Jamie is active in several UNECOM clubs including being President of the Integrative Medicine Club. She spoke to the rotary members about the importance of a holistic approach to the management of chronic disease states. Jamie is working with the CEN to help promote better management of chronic pain using an integrative approach tailored to the individual patient.
