Marilyn Gugliucci featured in The Center for Healthcare Communications for The Learning by Living Project

Marilyn Gugliucci, Ph.D., Director of Geriatric Education and Research, was featured in The Center for Healthcare Communications for The Learning by Living Project.  In this innovative program, medical students are “admitted” into a long-term care facilities to “live the life” of a resident for two weeks.  Each student comes with a diagnosis and appropriate treatments.  Prior to the development of this project, students learned about long-term care via traditional methods such as lectures and brief visits.

Currently, the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine is the only medical school in the country admitting students into long-term facilities for extended periods to live the life of a resident.  The Learning by Living Project is being filmed for a documentary, due out in June 2011.
