Teresa Dzieweczynski publishes article in The Journal of Young Investigators

Teresa Dzieweczynski, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, recently had an article published in  the peer-reviewed journal The Journal of Young Investigators. This article, "Presence of an audience influences habitat use in male guppies, Poecilia reticulata," featured two student authors, Meghan Pierse (PBO '08) and Kady Loubier (PBO '08).

The study, an investigation of how interactions between males is affected by the presence of a male or female audience, was designed by Meghan and Kady and was conducted in the Advanced Methods and Techniques class within the Psychobiology major. This work is the first investigation of audience effects on male-male interactions in guppies, as well as the first exploration of how habitat use and resource defense might be affected by the presence of an audience in any fish species.
