Kate Loukas co-authors paper based on Achieving Independence in Maine project; 3 OT students to make presentations on their work

Laurie Raymond, LCSW, the director of Clinical Services at Port Resources of Portland, worked with Kathryn M. Loukas, OTD, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, UNE associate clinical professor of Occupational Therapy to create life space, occupational, and social cognition solutions for young adults with autism.  Their work culminated in the Achieving Independence in Maine project where OT students participated in both program development and a pilot research project. The initial work involved with this program was recently published in the NADD Bulletin, the official publication of the National Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Needs.  Three occupational therapy professional students will present the results of the subsequent research study with Dr. Loukas at the American Occupational Therapy Association Annual Conference in April 2012, they are Tynisha Lacroix, Laura McHarg, and Amanda Perron.
