Lara Carlson's research featured in Scarborough leader; NEACSM award covered by York County Coast Star

Lara Carlson, Ph.D., assistant professor of applied exercise science, was interviewed for a Jan. 5, 2012 story in the Scarborough Leader about a study of a new fitness product she is conducting with three student assistants.

Carlson is evaluating a group of 15 senior citizens from southern Maine as part of an eight-week study on fall prevention for the elderly. The seniors are participating in a fitness routine using a new product called the Lemire System of Flo Dynamics developed by Scarborough-based health therapist Ron Lemire.

Carlson said after the study concludes this week, participants will be retested on their balance, flexibility, shoulder flexibility and knee flexor strength. Read the story.

Carlson also received news coverage on Jan. 5th in the York County Coast Star, which published a story on the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine 2011 Honor Award, which she recently received.
