Brian Duff quoted on Obama’s visit to Maine to support Mike Michaud for governor

Brian Duff, Ph.D., chair and associate professor in the Department of Political Science, was quoted in a news clip aired by CNN on October 29, 2014. The topic was President Obama’s role in campaigning for candidates in the upcoming midterm election.

Noting that Obama will visit Maine on October 30th to support gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud, the news clip quotes Duff’s comment that Obama’s objective in Maine is to get Democrats to "act like Democrats."

Acknowledging that Independent candidates have, in the past, siphoned support away from Democratic contenders in the state, Duff said, "In essence, this is a case where the question is less about matters of public policy and more about energy and enthusiasm behind Michaud rather than the Independent.  The Democrats have built some but need to keep it up another week. The president’s visit should help with that."
