Marilyn Gugliucci’s survey for SAGE Maine published by AARP

Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D., professor and director of Geriatrics Education and Research in UNE’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Shirley A. Weaver, Ph.D., conducted a survey of Maine’s health practitioners for the organization Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Elders (SAGE) Maine.

The report, titled "SAGE Maine Survey Report: Maine’s Health Practitioners Caring for Older GLBT Patients," was published in October 2014 by the American Association for Retired Persons (AARP).

The report is the first step towards raising awareness about older gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender health care, and it guides SAGE Maine to mobilize efforts in challenging a history of discrimination and lack of awareness of health needs of Maine’s older GLBT adults.

Gugliucci and Weaver are founding board members of SAGE Maine, the first statewide affiliate of the national SAGE organization.

The report is in print form or can be accessed on the SAGE Maine website.
